NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM
Literacy and Numeracy 2018
Information from the Australian Government:
In 2008, the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) commenced in Australian schools. The program continues in 2018 with all children in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 or ages appropriate to these years (see Table 1) being assessed using common national tests in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. NAPLAN 2018 assessments will be paper-based as in previous years.
These literacy and numeracy tests form a key part of the National Assessment Program endorsed by all Australian Ministers for Education.
Parent reports on student progress (issued in August and distributed to parents through Office of the Education Registrar) will give valuable information on your child’s/children’s performance in the areas tested. Sample parent reports, NAPLAN test papers and other information are available from www.nap.edu.au
