Hello Home Education Community
I am the recently appointed Chair for THEAC, with Jan Deeth stepping back from her wonderful contribution as a Council Member and Chair. I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all the hard work and genuine care she brought to her positions, representing Home Educators with her wealth of experience. May she enjoy the coming Spring and her new endeavours.
We have 2 new Council members joining us this quarter also, Eileen Height and Denise Cox, who are both current Home Educators and I look forward to working with them on Council.
In 2018 THEAC ran a series of forums state wide to explain the requirements, under the current Legislation, of the registration process, HESP writing and general Q & A. It was a wonderful opportunity for us all to come together, meet new faces, ask questions and build a collaborative environment for the benefit of this wonderful educational choice, Home Education.
I am excited to share that Council is in the planning stages of holding the forums again, across the state, to build on that conversation. I have attached to this letter the feedback we collated from the forums, with Council responses, please have a look and think about how we can use the forums to identify areas of support and continue the conversation between families and Council. If you would like to contribute a suggestion of discussion topics for the forums please email chair@theac.tas.gov.au
I wish you all well and hope that the winter months have provided some opportunities for different learning experiences, with a welcome return of warmer days, cherry blossom and spring activities to look forward to.
Kind regards,
Leanne Groves
Chair, THEAC
