CWP Young Women in Leadership Event – Stepping Up

Update: 23/07/2019  The two available places to attend have been filled.

The Tasmanian Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentarians (CWP) would like to invite two female students to an event at Parliament House. These two students are invited to be part of a young women’s student leadership event called ‘Stepping Up’, to be held on Wednesday, 18 September 2019 from 10am to 2.30 pm, with light refreshments from 9.30am.

This event is aimed at female students currently in Year Nine. The Stepping Up event aims to give young women an insight into the work of a Member of Parliament and give them the opportunity to meet with female Members of the Parliament of Tasmania. It also aims to introduce young women to some of the skills required to be an effective Member of Parliament. These skills will also be useful in leadership positions and the workplace in general.

Due to the generous support of the CWP and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association of Tasmania Branch, there is no cost to attend the event and lunch is provided. However, families need to arrange their own transport to the Parliament House and are required to send a supervising adult with their student.

As there are only two places offered to home educated students, these will be filled on a ‘first come, first serve basis’. Please email the registrar@oer.tas.gov.au no later than 2 August 2019 to express your interest in attending this event with your students details as well as that of the supervising adult.
